A little care can go a long way to keeping your sunglasses and lenses in top shape. Here are a few tips:
Cleaning
Looking for an easy solution to keep your lenses clean, whether you're on the move or just need a routine touch-up? Check out our Lens Cleaner!
For those times when your lenses need a bit more TLC after a day of adventures, follow these steps:
- Rinse your sunglass lenses under lukewarm water to remove loose debris and dirt.
- Apply a small drop of mild dish soap or lens cleaner solution to each lens.
- Gently rub the lenses with your fingertips or a soft microfiber cloth using circular motions, paying special attention to smudges or spots.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials to prevent scratching.
Storage
Properly storing your eyewear is essential for maintaining their longevity. Follow these tips to ensure your glasses or sunglasses stay in top condition:
- Use a Case: Always store your eyewear in a protective case when not in use. This shields them from scratches, dust, and other damage. If your glasses didn't come with a case, consider investing in one to safeguard your investment.
- Avoid Heat and Sunlight: Keep your eyewear away from direct sunlight and extreme heat, as these can cause frames to warp and lenses to distort. Store them in a cool, dry place when not wearing them.
- Clean Before Storing: Before placing your eyewear in its case, gently clean the lenses with a microfiber cloth and lens-safe cleaner. This removes any dirt or debris that could scratch the lenses during storage.
- Keep Away from Harsh Chemicals: Avoid storing your glasses near products containing harsh chemicals, such as hair spray or perfume. These substances can damage lens coatings and frames over time.
Things to Avoid
- Never use paper products such as tissues or paper towels on your lenses — they'll leave micro-scratches.
- Don't leave your sunglasses and lenses in a bag or your pocket with keys, loose change, or other items that could scratch your lenses or damage your frames.
- Avoid leaving your sunglasses on your car dashboard—extremely hot temperatures can warp your frames and cause the layers in your lenses to pull apart.
- Avoid alcohol-based cleaners, saltwater, and chlorine as these substances can damage MirrorShield® coatings. If your lenses are exposed to these substances, rinse them with fresh water to keep the coating intact.
